Application Questions
1. In this passage Paul talks about how the Israelites “passed through the water,” “ate spiritual food,” and “drank spiritual drink.” Which events in the Old Testament do you think he is referring to? And what parallels do they have in our lives as Christians?

2. How would you summarize the warning that Paul is giving to Christians here in this passage? Can you think of a time in your life when you really needed—or benefited from—a warning like that in verse 12?

3. What kind of temptations are you currently facing in your life (v. 13) that you desire help to fight against? What encouragements and reminders can you take from this passage that could help you?

4. As you evaluate your own life and your own heart, what are some idols that you think you have (v. 14)? Why do you think you are so drawn to that thing or to that person? What lies might you be believing? What truths do you need to remember?
