The Parable of the Sower
Growing up, we likely all heard stories that were intended to teach a lesson. Think of “The Tortoise and the Hare” or “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” Those stories weren’t intended to teach us about a slow turtle, a fast rabbit, or the dietary habits of wolves. Rather they were intended to teach us about diligence and honesty by attaching them to storylines that we would more easily remember than some abstract concept.
This art of using stories to teach is an ancient one, practiced masterfully even by Jesus Himself. Over the next seven weeks as part of a sermon series we’re calling Snapshots of the Kingdom, we’re going to be looking at some of those parables of Jesus – the stories He told that still have much to teach us today. First up: the Parable of the Sower.
