Do you ever wonder how that first group of Christ-followers felt when Jesus told them “you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”?
To the ends of the earth? Really? There were only about 120 of them, and they were, by-and-large, a rather ordinary people. The task may have seemed impossible. But, Jesus had prefaced this commission by promising, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8). That’s key. These ordinary believers were filled by the extraordinary Spirit, empowering them with the extraordinary gospel message. The gospel did spread across the world. And, the gospel continues to spread in our day.
That’s our theme as Pastor Larry McCall gives us an overview of what the Lord did in the book of Acts.
