Youth Missions Prayer Group

As a church, our mission is to see the gospel passed down from generation to generation, and to see the unreached peoples of the world reached with the gospel. One way we invest in this mission is by teaching our young people the process of planting in unreached people groups looks like, and teaching them God's heart to see all people on earth blessed through the work of Christ.

So, this spring, our youth are going to seek the Lord together, asking God to build our heart for the lost people of this world…

1. By praying. We see in Acts 13 that God uses the gathering of the church and prayer as a process to call Paul and Barnabas to missions. Once a month, for four months, our students will meet together to pray through the Scriptures and to ask if the Lord might have them go.

2. By training. The task of planting churches in unreached people groups is a monumental task. We want to be good stewards of those God calls from among us by preparing them with right expectations and excellent training.

  • Students participating will be required to read three books: 1) Let the Nations Be Glad (Piper), 2) No Shortcut to Success (Rhodes), and 3) Spirit of the Rainforest (Ritche). These books provide theologically sound strategy for mission and help set right expectations for what the process of missions looks like.

  • Every student that completes the reading and attends all of the prayer meetings will have the opportunity to attend Ethnos 360's mission's training camp "Wayumi" free of charge on June 9-15. There, students will meet with former missionaries, learn about cultural and linguistic acquisition, and better understand the different roles that must be filled for a church to be planted among the unreached people.

Prayer meetings will be on February 19th, March 18th, April 22nd, and May 20th at 6:30 am. Students participating must attend all meetings and must complete the required reading for each meeting to qualify for camp. Participation is the only cost.

Students must be incoming 9th grade students up through outgoing 12th grade students.
