Children’s Ministry
As we disciple children at CCC, we want them to grow in their love for Jesus, the Word, and the local church.
Read below to learn more about our classes, programs, and events for children up through sixth grade.
SUNDAY MORNINGS
Sunday School | 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
While parents serve or attend a Sunday School class, children will learn their own Bible lesson during the Sunday School hour. We utilize the Gospel Project, which is a wonderful curriculum that walks through the gospel storyline from Genesis to Revelation every few years.
Worship Service | 10:15 a.m.
Children two years old and younger can be cared for in our nurseries for the entirety of the worship service. Children three years old through kindergarten can be dismissed mid-way through the worship service (accompanied and dropped off by a parent/guardian) to head to classrooms, where we’ll have age-graded teaching and activities for their age groups.
Check-in and Pick-up
When you’re preparing to visit on a Sunday morning, check out these details below to know how to check your children in and pick them up.
Head to the Check In Desk: If you enter the main doors at the front of the church building, you’ll see a large TV in the lobby. Look just a bit to the right of that TV, and you’ll see the check-in desk! We’ll have a volunteer there ready to welcome you and help you through the process.
Checking In: Every child (up through sixth grade) who will be in a nursery or class must be checked in. A volunteer will request basic information from you and then print off stickers for your child. They’ll also give you a sticker, which you can show when you pick your child up. If you have special instructions for an infant or toddler, please indicate those to one of the volunteers in your child’s class at drop-off.
Picking Up: When you are picking up your children from their classroom, be sure to have that sticker you received at check-in, since the volunteers may ask you to present that before dismissing them.
WEDNESDAY EVENINGS
Lost & Found | 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
During the school year, we have a discipleship program on Wednesday evenings called “Lost & Found.” This is for children who are four-years-old through sixth grade. We utilize the New City Catechism, which teaches children key doctrines through a system of questions and answers. We also take time to learn books of the Bible, Bible verses, key truths, attributes of God, and heroes of the faith.
During the evening, children are part of a group with other boys and girls their age and work through rotations, which include large group, small group, and game times.
As part of Lost & Found, we also encourage children to imprint God’s Word on their hearts each week by memorizing passages of Scripture and learning the answers to the questions from the catechism.
EVENTS
Throughout the year, we host various events for children and their families. The thickest concentration of these is in the summer time, when we take a break from “Lost & Found” and host things like “Wheels Night,” “Wednesday at the Park,” etc.
For more information about any upcoming events, be sure to check out the church’s Events Calendar by clicking below.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
We are humbled that you would entrust your children into the discipleship and care of our C3KIDS leaders The protection of children a top priority at CCC. Each individual who desires to serve in the children’s ministry must complete an application to serve, be interviewed, complete a background check, have his/her references checked, and be trained specifically for the role in which they’ll be serving.
In addition to the vetting of leaders, there are many other precautionary measures we take to ensure the safety of children. All children must be checked in and receive a name tag; no child may enter a classroom without a name tag. On that name tag is going to be the parent’s contact information, as well as any special needs or allergies to be aware of. Also, we are a peanut-free facility. The only snacks that may be eaten inside of the nurseries and classrooms are the ones already in those spaces. If you desire for your child to have another snack, then you may choose one from our Snack Safely guide.
If you would like to know more specifics, or have any questions, about our policies and procedures in our Children’s Ministry, just ask! We’re an open book. Our children’s ministries director, Jordan Weddle, would love to talk with you! You can contact him at jweddle@christscovenant.org.
